Beard
A group of like-minded carrom Purists e.g. The Beard of Bellshill, The Paris Beards, The Continuity Beards (see Purists)

Berlin
Where a piece jumps up onto the frame of the Board and resides there. NB in such circumstance, that piece is placed back on the centre of the board and the player continues his or her turn

Board
Whilst a generic reference to a carrom board, this may also denote one game in a series of games e.g. "James took that board. He is up 5-1 after two boards"
 
Brushman's Lung
Bronchial health condition caused by inhalation of game powder.

Building for the children
Composing three, four or more pieces in proximity to one pocket. Denoting that the composer of such situation is looking to the near future.

Carromavirus
Mental health issue, linked to absence from games. Typically, a sufferer bites their lip whilst receiving grief from a spouse and then slinks off to check if there is any action anytime soon.
 
Clock
The central area of the playing surface, comprising a graphic design featuring eight spokes














Cluster
When most pieces are residing in or around the clock.

Cosby
Where a black piece, without invitation, lies on top of another piece.

Deep
Nuanced shot, designed to offer advantageous position for a subsequent shot.

Double Dunt
Where a piece, upon being struck, receives a second hit from the advancing striker to cause the piece to drop into a pocket.

Elegant
Smooth and successful shot of perfect weight.

Flow
Dropping three pieces in three consecutive shots.

For Fk's Sake
Typically, a vocal expression of dismay.

Jackie Chan
A piece which pirouettes, flips or displays other gymnast behaviour having been struck. Note: a piece showing such behaviour need not drop into a pocket before being described as a Jackie Chan.

Jim
Any defensive shot by an opponent which causes sighing or misery.

The omniscient God of carrom. He who bestows luck and fluke.

Any shot exhibiting frustration and stupidity

Demarcation of where a striker must be placed before shooting

Mixer
Where a piece flies off the board and lands in somebody's drink

Moira
Winning a board by max points available i.e 12

Name of fk
Any shot a bit remarkable

Old-Fashioned (or rebound)
Shooting at the frame opposite to effect a rebound in order to sink a piece at your end of the board.

One Night Stand
Where a piece jumps onto the frame of the board and then jumps back onto the play surface. NB in such circumstance, that piece is placed back on the centre of the board and the player loses his or her turn.

Purists
Game intelligentsia and analysers, often known as Beards. Purists care little about who took the victory or defeat but, rather, the manner in which such outcome occurred.

Residual
A piece discovered to have been not previously removed after having dropped into and residing in a pocket.

Reverse
Attacking a piece which sits behind your baseline

Registered Board Owner
 
Sandra 
Denoted if a piece comes to rest balanced precariously over a pocket

Shawshank
Where a piece jumps off the board and is difficult to locate.

Slam
In one turn, a player sinks all their coins, including the Queen. This has never happened in the SCL.
 
Stack
Vertical group of pieces returned to the centre (after fouls) and placed on top of each other















Super Discount 
When the striker sinks two pieces of the same colour into the same pocket in one stroke. Also described as a 2 for 1.

Taxi
Where a striker in motion across the board finds itself with a piece sitting on it's back during the journey

Walker
A piece gets up on it's rim and starts rolling about in curious fashion, nobody knowing where it may stop.

Weinstein
When a white piece, without invitation, lies on top of another piece.
