Ka Ma

Carrom was born in the historical mists of Asian discontent as people in those lands tried to get their heads around the colonialists' sport of choice - billiards. Legend has it that a young peasant carpenter in the town of Pune was visited in a dream and instructed as to how to build a Carrom board. This humble carpenter was Ka Ma.

Born of a cow of seven hooves, the young Ka Ma swiftly grew in height and wisdom. By the age of 21 he had built 100 boards, distributed powder to the poor and was hailed as The Son of Carrom. At age 25 He undertook travels to the four pockets of the known world to preach Sermons of The Board to those of little skill and hope:

"Ye, who boast, will be cast to the far frame of dismay. For it is easier to cover the queen than it is for the smug to pass through the eye of an opponent". Daniel 3:19.

His teachings guide us to courtesy. That is, if you trash talk or boast at a board you will face His retribution.

On His journeys to the four pockets, Ka Ma didst gather apostles: St Paul; St Stephen; St John; St Jas; St Andrew; Paul The Shepherd; St Jimbo; St Fraser; St Michael, St Bruce and Stuart The Alchemist.

Lately, the SCL convenes on the mezzanine - tribute to Ka Ma when He would speak to the flock from upon The Mount. He remains as inspiration, arbiter and overlord of The Board and it's ways. Be of no doubt - Ka Ma resides and abides to this day. St Jimbo - said by some to be Ka Ma's representative on Earth - oft lights votive candles before a set and beseeches favours of his lord.
